DJ DEJA – BOSTON| PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY

Under the handle "DJ Deja", Denise LaCarubba has been spinning as a Boston nightclub, mixshow and mobile DJ since 1990, with additional experience in the terrestrial radio realm. She has had the privilege of working with management and clientele of large-scale nightclubs, cutting her professional teeth in bar-oriented dancefloors in historic Fanueil Hall, at venues Sissy K's and The Hong Kong. She has since risen in rank, earning and maintaining high-profile residencies in some of New England 's choice hotspots. During 1999 and 2000, Deja charmed the crowds Thursdays and Fridays around Boston : at The Rack in Fanueil Hall, and Saturdays at WaterWorks in Marina Bay . 2001 residencies included MATRIX Fridays; Thursdays and Sundays at the WaterClub on Marina Bay in Quincy ; guest spots at Karma, Exchange, Il Panino, the DancePlex and WaterWorks on Saturdays. In 2002, she toured Sissy K's Thursdays, Vertigo Fridays and DancePlex Saturdays, with several highlighted guestspots around Boston . 2002 also heralded Deja's first foray into other U.S. markets - she was lauded in South Beach 's ( Miami ) Tantra nightclub, where, with six other female DJs - narrowed from a field of 137 potentials - she opened the 2002 Winter Music Conference in an all-female DJ exhibition sponsored by Tommy Hilfiger. Since 2003 to present day, DJ Deja continues her winning streak with surprise appearances at the prestigious Boston boutique nitery, Saint , as well as at other nightspots in Beantown. In 2006 Deja rejoined terrestrial radio as an on-air personality with iconic classic rock/CBS radio station WZLX, Boston's 100.7fm, capping a lifelong goal to be a broadcast DJ.

2004 heralded new beginnings for Deja, as she has focused consistently and successfully in the high-profile entertainment arena, having DJed at many private galas for both the Democratic National Convention in Boston (DNC) and the Republican National Convention in New York City (RNC), opening for acts such as the Spinners (in Boston) and .38 Special and Lynyrd Skynyrd (in NYC). Because of her stellar performances, she was once again brought back to entertain the Democrats - twice- in 2008's Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Denver. 2005 brought about new territory for Deja as she opened for J. Geils Band and entertained at charity events honoring Denis Leary, Michael J. Fox and Cam Neely. She has also DJed special events at Boston 's legendary Fenway Park and Gillette Stadium, and is in demand for several more luminous events, fashion shows and charity galas in and around the Boston area, with plans for bookings in Chicago, Miami, Las Vegas and beyond. In 2005 Deja joined forces with X-Mix as a weekly radio/mixshow producer, remixer, and contributer, for their Club USA Dance series.

With intense passion and a hunger to succeed, utilizing raw ambition, drive and determination; working her expansive knowledge of the nightlife scene and parlaying her outright determination wins Deja respect and recognition among her fellow (male) peers. In an industry – Boston, more so - where most DJs are male (by default) and ‘here today, gone tomorrow', she has repeatedly proven her worth both as an intelligent and professional disc jockey by threefold: honing crucial skills to keep the clientele in-house, interested and involved; maintaining an impressive arsenal of a music library, complete with remixes, new artists and rare B-sides; and constantly re-inventing formats and concepts by way of an ever-changing direction of music style and experience with a wide-ranging client demographic. Being fearless of introducing new 'ambiance' and 'atmosphere' music will keep the clientele happy week after week, event and event; and keep any DJ innovative, novel, and popular among her clients.

This DJ's career ambitions would firstly land her behind a satellite radio microphone (having envisioned a lifelong dream of being a radio broadcast DJ, of which she accomplished in spring of '06 with Boston's WZLX) but also would spirit her away from the Boston DJ scene and into other national & international circuits: she lists Miami & LA as within her goals, and to broaden and expand her greatest passion – being a messenger of music.

In 2000, Deja founded her own mobile DJ company, Vibeology IA (Innovative Audio) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts . Vibeology IA is a professional mobile DJ firm with a primary goal to execute all events with intricate, unique detail. Her ambition and assertive spirit has also landed her affiliations with two of Boston 's entertainment powerhouses - VIP Entertainment of New England & Miami and Music Management of Belmont, Massachusetts. In 2008 you can enjoy her musical stylings at venues like the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (for their FirstFridays monthly events and gallery openings), the Ritz-Carlton Boston Common, The Four Seasons, Boston; The InterContinental Boston, The Taj Boston, and a return to playing in both Fenway Park and Gillette Stadium, where she has has the honor of entertaining several times at charity events over the last few years.

Deja is a long-standing VIP level disc jockey and represents well as one of a team of high-tier club, mobile and broadcast radio DJs. Deja is a preferred vendor of many elite event planners and PR powerhouses in the Boston area.
